Lead Engineer – Building Management Systems (BMS / EMS) Stuttgart, Germany

We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer – Building Management Systems (BMS / EMS) to join a leading international contractor delivering high-tech facilities across Europe. This role focuses on the planning, design, and delivery of building automation systems for large-scale pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects, ensuring world-class quality and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of Building Management and Environmental Monitoring Systems (BMS/EMS) for advanced facilities
  • Manage projects independently, covering all engineering phases: concept, basic, and detailed design
  • Draft technical specifications, planning documents, and budgets
  • Oversee supplier selection, procurement, and contract management
  • Ensure compliance with regulated cleanroom environments and GMP standards
  • Coordinate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Provide technical leadership in automation and digitalisation of building systems
  • Conduct quality assurance, system validation, and handover to clients

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, Technical IT, or similar
  • Proven expertise in BMS/EMS planning for regulated pharmaceutical or biotech facilities
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructures, configurations, protocols (switching, routing, wireless), and database technologies
  • Experience with bus systems such as BACnet, Profinet, Profibus
  • Advantageous: Siemens IT Simatic family (PCS7, WinCC, Desigo)
  • Demonstrated ability in sub-project or project management
  • Fluent in German (C1), with good English skills (B2+)
  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
